Although the Audio Driver may be in the installation files of Windows XP,
it is NOT an XP Audio driver, rather, it is your Computer’s System Driver
for the On Board Audio of your pc (which you can get at the website for your
computer).
If the driver is in the form of an .exe file (self installer), it whould install
fine by double clicking on it.
If it is in the form of an uncompressed file and you have a bunch of files
that belong to the audio device listed, you can go to the Device Manager
and reinstall it there.
NOTE: here you can also Roll Back to an earlier driver.
Open Device Manager:
Right click My Computer
Select Properties
Select the Hardware tab and then Device Manager
Under this device manager, find the driver that is showing an error symbol
Right click on it and select Update Driver
You will have to choose the location of where the driver backup files are for it
to install.
If there is a problem with the Backup file (corrupt/broken), you will have to
go to the website of your laptop’s manufacturer, locate the Downloads &
Drivers pages and locate the driver for your specific computer.
A System Restore to a day or so before you uninstalled the driver will also
put it back.
.
go to start – control panel – system – device manager.
there you should find a yellow symbol next to sound, video and game controllers.
click once and locate realtek
click realtek twice to open properties
on the driver tab click update driver or install driver
allow internet access when asked and it should find download and install the drivers.
or you could try windows update which is found in your start menu – all programs
