Ok so my dell inspiron 1525 will not start up windows vista. It is currently on the windows startup repair ‘attempting repairs’ and has been for the last 4hours! Does it normally take this long. What can i do to fix it?

I know that right clicking on it will remove it for that session but how can I pevent it from appearing on startup?
The crescent is part of windows – first introduced in vista – which appears when you hover in the middle at the top of the screen. It provides a quick link to 6 areas.
Security, Communication, office, entertainment, internet and anti-virus. It is very annoying as it crops up when navigating the desktop if you stray near that area.

Hi all

I formatted the partition on which Windows 7 was located, but on startup, I still have to choose to start Windows XP on Boot Manager. How do I get rid of the boot manager?
I don’t have the CD I installed XP from, nor do I have the DVD I installed ’7′ from.

Windows 7 isnt on the list though…

When I start XP the icons and the start menu appear normally for a few seconds and then disappear. My mouse cursor still works, and I can open and execute programs through the task manager. Can somebody please help me with this? Please!
