State one program for example because I use Vista 64 for over 2 years and I never had a problem installing hardware or software (unless your hadrware/software is archaic!) It's just the difference between 32bit and 64bit computing. The main differences are that with 64bit computing you can have more than 4GBs of RAM and run 64bit applications (which are usually faster than their 32bit counterparts) 32-bit applications work fine on 64-bit Vista.
