I have Windows Vista right now and want to upgrade and I saw both windows 7 and the windows 7 starter to home premium, but one is 30 dollars cheaper. Whats the difference between them?
THEY BOTH SUCK seriously i despise widows 7. plus i dont know who invented windows 7 starter but who makes a computer that you cant change the desktop background. honestly.
The update is designed to turn Windows Vista into Windows 7. However you have to have the right upgrade version. You can only upgrade Vista Home to Win7 Home, Vista Pro to Win7 Pro, etc.
The Win7 Starter to Win7 Home Premium requires you to already have Win7 Starter install (not Vista). It then upgrades it to Win7 Home Premium. It will not work a Vista install.
Once you have Windows 7, you can use a one-time Anytime Upgrade to move from say Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Home Premium. This is not what you need at this time.

Hi Alicia,
You are talking about two different things. To move from Vista to Windows 7, you need to purchase an upgrade version of Windows 7. This is when you would choose to upgrade to the appropriate edition of Windows 7, which you can find here – http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-vista-to-windows-7.

I hope this makes sense
Cheers,
