I have an xp pro cd that I bought (not OEM – new in box from retail store) and installed on a computer I have. Now I want to install it on a different computer. How do I make the transition to switch the license to the new computer?

legally you are supposed to disable windows on the first computer, and then you are aloud to used the key again.
if that is already done or legality isn’t a concern of yours just use it again. when it comes time to activate select activate over the Internet, and it should go through no problem as long as you haven’t been using the key allot.
if it fails activation follow the instructions to contact Microsoft by phone and explain that you are reusing the disk/key on a new computer and the old one is disabled, they should fix it for you.
If it’s not OEM you should be able to use on multiple computer, just install it on different computer.
